Toorak has been made well known by its 4WD's, specifically along High St. They are commonly known as the Toorak Tractor to South-East Victorian motorists.

It is located 6 km south east of the CBD and is known to be the wealthiest suburb in Melbourne and some of the most expensive houses in the city are here as well as the Rodeo Drive of Melbourne, Toorak Village.
Prefixing something with "Toorak" has become slang for indicating wealth in a some cases, for instance with luxury 4WDs becoming known as the Toorak Tractor to South-East Victorian motorists.
In Australian slang (particularly in Victoria), a Toorak tractor is a pejorative name for a Four-wheel drive.
The reference to the affluent Melbournesuburb of Toorak alludes to the ownership and use of such vehicles as status symbols, rather than for their designed off-road abilities.
Historically, the Toorak Tractor came to be in the mid 1990s with the Range Rover SUV.
