The Toronto General Hospital (part of the University Health Network,) is a major teaching hospital downtown Toronto, Canada. Known sometimes as "TGH", it is located directly north of the Hospital for Sick Children, across Gerrard Street, and east of Princess Margaret Hospital and Mount Sinai Hospital, across University Avenue. They are steps from Queen's Park and the Queen's Park subway station. The hospital also houses the major transplantation service for Ontario. Many organ transplants are undertaken here every year, including Heart, Lung, Kidney, Liver, Pancreas and Small Bowel. Patients are referred from all over eastern Canada. In addition to treating tens of thousands of patients and helping in teaching to future physicians, nurses and technicians, the hospital is home to research through the Toronto General Research Institute and the Centre for Global eHealth Innovation.
