In keeping with the Docklands Light Railway's original lightweight and basic philosophy, Tower Gateway is a simple elevated two track terminus with a narrow central platform. It immediately adjoins the access tracks to Fenchurch Street railway station. Access to the street is via escalator, stairs and elevator at the western end of the station, with a secondary staircase entrance at the eastern end.
