Encyclopedia > Trail Riding

Trail riding is riding on trails as opposed to riding on roads or courses.

  1. On horses
  2. On bicycles
  3. On motorcycles

This activity is about challenging terrain in the outdoors. Spontaneous competition often occurs between the riders as well, but speed is not the reason for trail riding. Just having fun and enjoying nature is the goal. Riders may stop at a challenging section and ride it over and over until new skills are learned.

Minor injuries are a part of the sport when riding motorcycles or bicycles.

Environmentalists see this activity as detrimental to the land, although many off-road motorcyclists, especially those who get involved in the sport by joining an organized club, perform hours of trail maintenance yearly.
