Zones A-D
TravelcardZone 1 is the central zone of Transport for London's zonal system used for calculating co-ordinated inter-modal Travelcard fares within London.
The zone is also used for pricing London Underground and Docklands Light Railway single journeys, but not journeys undertaken entirely by bus or tram, for which a city-wide flat fare applies.
The boundary of Zone 1 roughly corresponds to the route of the Underground's Circle Line and thus stations within the zone cover the West End, the Holborn district, Kensington, Paddington and the City of London.
A Travelcard is an intermodal ticket for public transport in London, valid in a number of zones and for a period of time varying from one day to one year.
These Travelcards essentially combine a Travelcard, for use within Greater London, with a rail return (for one day Travelcards) or season (for longer validities) ticket from the nominated station to the Greater London boundary, and are valid in the same way as if such a combination was issued seperately.
Travelcards are issued for periods of one, three and seven days, or for any period from one month to one year.
