Strangely, a number of Hindi films have borrowed heavily from the masala films of the 1980s and 1990s and GARV is no exception.
The film starts with a prologue by Ashutosh Gowariker, the director of Lagaan, where he talks about the conventional norms and rules of Hindi filmmaking and how a filmmaker is not supposed to think outside that domain.
The film is set in Pakistan and portrays the Indian soldiers in a positive light, a few Pakistanis in a negative light.
