Tropical Storm Allison was a tropical storm that devastated southeast Texas in 2001.
It was one of the deadliest and most destructive storms of the 2001 Atlantic hurricane season, killing 41 people across the United States and causing over $5 billion in damage in Houston.
The tropical storm formed just off the Texas coast of the Gulf of Mexico on June 5, 2001.

Tropical Storm Allison, the first named storm of the 2001 Atlantic Hurricane Season, devastated portions of Southeast Texas, including the Houston Metro area and surrounding communities, with severe flooding.
The first event was associated with Allison's landfall on the 5th and affected northern Galveston and southern and eastern Harris counties.
As the first tropical storm to strike the Upper Texas Coast since Frances in 1998, damage estimates in Harris County alone (includes the Houston Metro area) have surpassed $4.88 billion, which is more than two times that caused by the last major hurricane to strike the Upper Texas Coast, Alicia, in 1983.
