Tumba is a suburb of Greater Stockholm, and the seat of Botkyrka Municipality, in Stockholm County, Sweden. The urban area stretches over two municipalities. The population as of 2000 is 34,101. The Swedish krona banknotes are printed at Tumba Bruk, in Tumba.


The suburb also holds a High School (Tumbagymnasiet) with almost 1.000 students. The Alfa Laval company was founded in Tumba by Gustaf de Laval and remains present in the suburb. Tumba is very diversed with both high rise appartment buildings and single family houses. A large proportion of its inhabitants originate from other countries then Sweden, such as Turkey, Iraq, Yugoslavia, Poland, Finland, Chile, India, Lebanon and China. There is a Syrian Orthodox Church in Tumba due to the notable presence of Assyrian/Syriac people.

Sven Tumba Johansson - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia (221 words)
Sven "Tumba" Johansson (born 1931 in Tumba, Sweden) was one of the most prominent Swedish ice hockey players of the 1950's and 60's, as well as a football player and golfer.
Tumba played for the Djurgardens IF Hockey club in Sweden from 1951 to 1966, which he helped lead to eight championships.
Tumba was the first European player to attend an NHL training camp, with the Boston Bruins in 1957.
