Tveit was municipality of Norway from 1837 until 1964, but is now a part of Kristiansand and host to the city's airport Kjevik. Tveit occupies the mouth of the river Tovdalselva (also known as Topdalselva) and was the birthplace of Norwegian-American aviator Bernt Balchen.
