Tweety aka Tweety Pie or Tweety Bird is a fictional character in the Warner Brothers Looney Tunes and Merrie Melodies series of animated cartoons. Bob Clampett created the character that would become Tweety in 1942's "A Tale of Two Kitties", pitting him against two hungry cats named Babbott and Catstello (based on the famous radio and comedians Abbott and Costello). Tweety was originally naked (pink), jowly, and far more aggressive and saucy, as opposed to the later, more well-known version of him as a less hot-tempered (but still somewhat ornery) yellow canary. In the movie Bugs Bunny, Superstar, animator Clampett stated, in a sotto voce "aside" to the audience, that Tweety had been based "on my own naked baby picture". Tweety is normally called Tweety Bird nowadays. His previous name originated from the episode called Tweetie Pie, Friz Freleng's first short that paired him and a character he'd used in several pictures already, a lisping cat named Sylvester. Many of Mel Blanc's characters are notable for speech impediments. Tweety's comes from having a beak, with no lips or teeth. Thus he has trouble saying certain words, especially ones with "dental" sounds. For example, "pussy cat" comes out as "putty tat" or "puddy tat", and "sweetie pie" comes out as "tweetie pie", although it is doubtful he ever actually called himself by that name on-screen. Tweety's High Flying Adventure

Tweety also appeared in his own movie called "Tweety's High Flying Adventure". Released in 2000, Granny takes Sylvester and Tweety to the Looney club in London where she learns that her favourite park will be closed due to unpaid debt. When she goes inside to investigate, she overhears Colonel Rimfire stating that cats are the smartest animal and he's eilling to stake his entire fortune on a bet to prove it. Granny takes him up on the challenge saying that Tweety can fly around the world on 80 days (Where have we heard that formula before?) and collect the Pawprints of 80 cats along the way. The bet is made and Tweety sets off, with Sylvester following him. When he ereaches Tibet, he meets a female Canary in serious trouble from a tribe of cats who were about to sacrifice her. Tweety saves her and she desides to follow him on his journey. The girl is only known as 'Aaooga'. She has this name because she can mimic the classic wolf howl male toons often make when they fall in love, except she does it at a deafening volume. Tweety obviouslybecomes attached to her as he refuses to finish his journey without her, even when she tells him to go on without her. Near the end there is poignant moment where Aaooga is nearly lost in a hurricane but Tweety is able to find her, but only after realising that a friend is the only thing worth winning (How true that is).
