Twin Lakes is a village located in Kenosha County, Wisconsin. As of the 2000 census, the village had a total population of 5,124.

Twin Lakes is located at 42°31'18" North, 88°15'46" West (42.521554, -88.262885)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the village has a total area of 18.0 km˛ (6.9 mi˛). 14.0 km˛ (5.4 mi˛) of it is land and 4.0 km˛ (1.5 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 22.19% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 5,124 people, 1,973 households, and 1,390 families residing in the village. The population density is 366.4/km˛ (948.5/mi˛). There are 2,742 housing units at an average density of 196.1/km˛ (507.6/mi˛). The racial makeup of the village is 97.35% White, 0.37% African American, 0.18% Native American, 0.57% Asian, 0.02% Pacific Islander, 0.57% from other races, and 0.96% from two or more races. 2.48% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 1,973 households out of which 35.1% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.0% are married couples living together, 8.3% have a female householder with no husband present, and 29.5% are non-families. 22.8% of all households are made up of individuals and 8.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.58 and the average family size is 3.05.


In the village the population is spread out with 27.1% under the age of 18, 7.3% from 18 to 24, 30.3% from 25 to 44, 23.1% from 45 to 64, and 12.2% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 36 years. For every 100 females there are 98.8 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 97.8 males.


The median income for a household in the village is $46,601, and the median income for a family is $54,583. Males have a median income of $42,589 versus $27,395 for females. The per capita income for the village is $22,226. 6.6% of the population and 4.5% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 7.8% of those under the age of 18 and 9.2% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.
