Twin Rivers is a census-designated place located in Mercer County, New Jersey. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 7,422.


Geography

Twin Rivers is located at 40°15'48" North, 74°29'14" West (40.263359, -74.487280)1.


According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.4 km˛ (1.3 mi˛). 3.3 km˛ (1.3 mi˛) of it is land and 0.1 km˛ (0.1 mi˛) of it is water. The total area is 3.85% water.


Demographics

As of the census2 of 2000, there are 7,422 people, 2,748 households, and 2,033 families residing in the CDP. The population density is 2,274.3/km˛ (5,906.9/mi˛). There are 2,818 housing units at an average density of 863.5/km˛ (2,242.8/mi˛). The racial makeup of the CDP is 76.25% White, 10.16% African American, 0.08% Native American, 6.25% Asian, 0.19% Pacific Islander, 4.61% from other races, and 2.47% from two or more races. 14.63% of the population are Hispanic or Latino of any race.


There are 2,748 households out of which 33.4% have children under the age of 18 living with them, 58.1% are married couples living together, 11.0% have a female householder with no husband present, and 26.0% are non-families. 21.2% of all households are made up of individuals and 4.3% have someone living alone who is 65 years of age or older. The average household size is 2.70 and the average family size is 3.12.


In the CDP the population is spread out with 23.5% under the age of 18, 8.7% from 18 to 24, 30.6% from 25 to 44, 30.9% from 45 to 64, and 6.4% who are 65 years of age or older. The median age is 37 years. For every 100 females there are 97.6 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there are 94.5 males.


The median income for a household in the CDP is $62,760, and the median income for a family is $69,494. Males have a median income of $45,840 versus $33,393 for females. The per capita income for the CDP is $26,501. 4.6% of the population and 2.7% of families are below the poverty line. Out of the total population, 4.7% of those under the age of 18 and 4.5% of those 65 and older are living below the poverty line.

Twin Rivers Homeowners Association, ultimately representing three members of the Association who alleged that the New Jersey Constitution should be applied to the Association's governance of Twin Rivers and that many of the Association's rules were unreasonable and therefore should be voided.
Twin Rivers' purpose in limiting the placement of signs around the community is to avoid clutter, preserve the aesthetics of the community and allow for lawn maintenance and leaf collection in the Fall.
