He takes a job handicapping football games, and he's so good at picking winners he catches the eye of Walter Abrams (Pacino), the slick head of one of the biggest sports consulting operations in the United States. Walter takes Brandon under his wing and soon enough the money starts rolling in.

For a while, business is very good and Lang's in-depth knowledge of the game, the leagues and players continue to bring in the big bucks - and even bigger clients. Abrams's cable show, The Sports Advisors, takes off when he adds Lang to the desk, but when things go south and Lang loses his touch, the once rock solid relationship between Abrams and Lang sours and their fondness for football turns into a bitter fighting match for love and money.

Brandon's new high-rolling lifestyle depended entirely on his ability to predict the outcomes of the games, so when his golden touch began to falter, Walter applied the pressure. With millions at stake, Brandon and Walter do battle while everyone in their world, including Walter's wife, Toni (Russo), is drawn in.

For all its swaggering bravado, Pacino's turn in Two For The Money is the reverse image of his "Devil's Advocate" character: Instead of the omniscient, all-powerful operator he presents himself as, he's a gambler grasping at a lifestyle that's always just beyond his means.
Two for the Money, which was written by Dan Gilroy (Freejack, Chasers), is so badly constructed and illogical that its inanities manage to drown the actor (Pacino) out.
