He was born Daryl Karolat in Saskatoon, Saskatchewan and started in wrestling in 1989 in World Championship Wrestling as Nitro, the bodyguard for Woman. The gimmick did not last long and he went to Puerto Rico's World Wrestling Council. He also wrestled for All Japan Pro Wrestling and New Japan Pro Wrestling before returning to the United States to wrestle briefly in the Global Wrestling Federation before returning to WCW in 1993 as Big Sky where he was managed by Woman and Sal Conte.
