Encyclopedia > U.S. Highway 48

United States Highway 48 is an east-west United States highway that currently runs for 148 miles from northern Virginia to central West Virginia. Its present route was commissioned in 2002. An older routing of the same number (from Hancock, Maryland, to Morgantown, West Virginia) was replaced in 1989 by Interstate 68.


Termini

As of 2004, the highway's eastern terminus is in Strasburg, Virginia at Interstate 81. Its western terminus is Weston, West Virginia at Interstate 79.
