Mumbai University Institute of Chemical Technology (MUICT), Mumbai, India, is the finest technical institute of University of Mumbai. It is India's premier chemical engineering and technology research institute. It was renamed as (MUICT) on 26th of January 2002. It was previously known as the University of Mumbai Department of Chemical Technology (UDCT). It is sometimes also referred to as (UICT).

It was established in 1934 and is spread across 16 acres (65,000 m²) of land in Central Mumbai.

UICT offers graduate degree courses in chemical engineering (B. Chem. Eng.), B. Tech in chemical technology (dyes, textiles, food, oils, pharmaceuticals, paints and polymers) and B. Pharm (Sc.)

MUICT provides undergraduate and post graduate courses in various fields including Chemical Engineering, Food Technology, Fermentation Technology, Perfumery Technology, Bio process technology, Textile Technology, Dyestuff Technology, Polymer Technology an Engineering, Oils Technology and Pharmaceutical Technology. Master and doctorate degrees are also offered in these areas.

Established in 1934, this reputed institute is located in Matunga, a centrally located area of Mumbai. The institute churns out about 200 graduates and 100 post graduate students per year. The number of research articles published per faculty member of UICT is greater than any other research institute in India.

Some of the prestigious collaborators of UICT include the Department of Atomic Energy, India; Biorad and Reliance Industries Limited. UICT holds the distinction of producing India's entire requirement of laser dyes. In 2003, UICT was awaded the prestigious Indian Mercantile Chamber (IMC) Bajaj Quality Award.

Headed by the world renown scientist Prof. J. B. Joshi, UICT has produced many a jewel including Padmavibhushan Prof. M. M. Sharma; Dr. R. A. Mashelkar, Director, Centre for Scientific and Industrial Research (India); Mr. Mukesh Ambani, CMD, Reliance Industries Limited; Dr. Anji Reddy, Founder, Dr. Reddy's labs and many others.
