It was originally conceived and constructed to meet a requirement placed by the United States Navy SEALs.
General information
The Mk11 Mod0 (pronounced "mark eleven, mod zero") has received worldwide recognition as one of the most accurate and durable semiautomatic rifle systems in existence. It is currently in service with most operational components of U.S. Special Operations Command and also with the Israeli Special Forces. The system has also recently become available to civilian consumers at a unit price of around $7,500 USD not including extra firearm licensing fees.
The Mk11 Mod0 is not capable of fully automatic fire; it is a semiautomatic rifle.
The United States NavyMark 12 Mod 0/1 Special Purpose Rifle (SPR) is a rifle that has been in service with the United States special forces in Operation Enduring Freedom and Operation Iraqi Freedom.
It was eventually type classified by the Navy as the Mk 12, though the Army also uses this designation.
The SPR was originally proposed by Mark Westrom, currently president of Armalite, while at the Rock Island Arsenal.
