USS Springfield Base - USSVI (0 words)
Located in the "Gateway City", the USS Springfield Base serves the St. Louis and surrounding areas.
Because the official purpose of the USSVI organization is to "perpetuate the memory of our shipmates who gave their lives..." a decision was made to name the base after an "in commission" U.S. Navy submarine whose crew is currently "giving their lives...." that our citizens may enjoy freedom.
We also enjoy connections with the two cities that the USS Springfield was named for - Springfield, Illinois and Springfield Massachusetts.
