The Ukrainian Soviet Socialist Republic a.k.a. UkrSSR (Ukrainian: Ukrayins’ka Radyans’ka Sotsialistychna Respublika, URSR, Russian: Ukrainskaya Sovetskaya Sotsialisticheskaya Respublika) was created on December 25, 1917, and was a constituent republic of the Soviet Union from the time the Union was formed in 1922.  After World War II, in 1945, some amendments to the Constitution of the Ukrainian SSR were accepted, which allowed it to act as a separate subject of the international law in some cases and to a certain extent, remaining a part of the USSR at the same time.
