Umoja is one of the three original Terran-colonized worlds in the StarCraft universe. Two supercarriers landed on Umoja; the Sarengo and the Reagan. The former crash-landed, killing all 4,000 of it's passengers and leaving a huge scar called "the Sarengo Gulf". It's memory banks had later been decrypted by the Umojan government, but too late to catch up to the colonists of Tarsonis. After the defeat of the Kel-Morian Combine by the Terran Confederacy, the Umojan government founded the Umojan Protectorate, a military body designed to defend the Umojans from the Confederates. Due to fear of the Confederates (along with other factors) this world was an early supporter of the Sons of Korhal. With the creation of the Terran Dominion the Umojan government became a member; however, it seems to have received little interference from it's allies. The Umojans have rarely, if ever, been at war, and their planet was not invaded by the Zerg, Protoss, United Earth Directorate or any other Terrans. The Umojan government seeks peaceful contact with the Protoss. Umoja is also the principle of the first day of Kwanzaa. It means 'unity'.
