Location of Unalaska, Alaska

Unalaska is an island in the Fox Islands group in the middle of the Aleutian Islands southwest of Alaska, at 53°54' North 166°32' West. The island is about 200 kmē (80 sq. miles) in area. The town of Unalaska, Alaska covers part of the island and the Dutch Harbor part of neighboring Amaknak Island.

The name Unalaska is Aleut. Several theories about its origin exist; one is that the name comes from the word Unanak which is the name the Aleuts of the Fox Islands use to designate themselves, like Unangan in other dialects.
