Underwater demolition refers to the destruction or neutralization of man-made or natural underwater obstacles.


In World War II, the U.S. military established Underwater Demolition Teams to map and record conditions in amphibious landing zones and to demolish obstacles in water which would prevent vehicles from landing during invasions.[1] Underwater demolition specialists may still be refered to as underwater demolition teams.
