Unincorporated areas in the state of New Jersey are communities that are part of one or more incorporated municipalities. In New Jersey, all unincorporated areas belong to, and are part of, a City, Township, Town, Borough or Village and pay property taxes to that entity. In other parts of the United States, unincorporated areas don't belong to any municipality and the residents don't pay property taxes to any local government.
