The United Ethiopian Democratic Forces (or UEDF) is a coalition of several existing political parties of Ethiopia which combined to compete for seats in the Ethiopian General Elections held on May 15, 2005. The United Ethiopian Democratic Forces (or UEDF) is a coalition of several existing political parties of Ethiopia which combined to compete for seats in the Ethiopian General Elections held on May 15, 2005.
At the last legislative elections on 15 May 2005, the UEDF gained 52 seats in the Council of People's Representatives, consisting of 40 from the Oromia region and 12 from the Southern Nations, Nationalities, and Peoples Region.
In October the UEDF briefly supported the other major opposition party, the Coalition for Unity and Democracy, in a refusal to participate in the CPR until several demands were met.

The struggle of the Ethiopian people and the democratic opposition forces has taken a giant leap foreward by the formation of  the United Ethiopian Democratic Forces, which is a united front of 15 Ethiopian opposition organizations.
The UEDF will be led by a 30- member Council (Shengo) with 2 representatives from each member organization, and a 15 member Executive Committee, one each representing the member organizations.
It was also unanimously agreed to keep the door open to all opposition organizations that were unable to be part of the present United Front and that accept the agreed upon principles of UEDF.
