The University of Kalmar, in Swedish Högskolan i Kalmar is a university located in Kalmar, Sweden, founded in 1977. At that time, two existing colleges of higher education were united to form a university college, which has later evolved into a university. A university is an institution of higher education and of research, which grants academic degrees at all levels (bachelor, master, and doctor) in a variety of subjects. ... Kalmar is a city in SmÃ¥land in south east Sweden, situated by the Baltic Sea. ... The term university college is used in a number of countries to denote institutions that provide tertiary education but do not have full or independent university status. ...


The University of Kalmar is focused on undergraduate education in a variety of fields, including science, social science, health studies, and business studies. It awards postgraduate degrees only in the natural sciences.
