The Université de Sherbrooke is a large university with three distinct campuses, two of which are located in Sherbrooke, Quebec, Canada, and another, which is located in Longueuil, approximately 170 km west of Sherbrooke. It is one of two universities in the region, and the only French language university in the Eastern Townships section of Quebec.

U de S has a student population of more than 30,000 students, 11,500 of which are there full-time. There are nine faculties at the university: Management, Law, Education, Physical Education, Engineering, Letters and Social Sciences, Medicine, Science, and Theology, Philosophy and Ethics. It is the only university outside of Quebec's urban metropolises to offer a medical school and a law school.

The university was the first French language and second Canadian university to offer co-op (co-operative) programs to its students, which give them hands-on, practical work experience along with the education they receive in the classroom. U de S was also the first university to offer an MBA (Master of Business Administration) program in French, the first in Canada to provide a master's degree in taxation, and the first in Quebec to provide a bachelor's degree in management with a co-op component.

The university was founded on May 4, 1954. Initially, the university was located at the Séminaire Saint-Charles Borommée (now Séminaire de Sherbrooke) in downtown Sherbrooke.

The university is represented in Canadian Interuniversity Sport by the Sherbrooke Vert-et-Or.
