Encyclopedia > University of Southern Nevada

The University of Southern Nevada (USN) is a university located in the city of Henderson, Nevada with satellite campus located in South Jordan, Utah. The university is a graduate-only institution, and offers a doctoral degree in pharmacy, a bachelor's degree in nursing and the Master of Business Administration degree. The Master of Business Administration degree from the University of Southern Nevada is not accredited. Furthermore, the Master of Business Administration program is not fully equipped, staffed nor is it a challenge. Although the University of Southern Nevada has a standard of 90% for all assessment tests, the appropriate materials are not taught. What is taught at the University of Southern Nevada, rather, is how to pass the test at the end of the block. Sadly enough, this holds true for both the Pharmacy and Nursing programs as well. The University of Southern Nevada was originally called the Nevada College of Pharmacy and enrolled its first class in January 2001. The University was founded by Dr. Harry Rosenberg who also was involved with the formation of Western University College of Pharmacy. USN College of Pharmacy is unique in that it utilizes a block system in which students focus on one topic at a time (rather than enrolling in multiple courses concurrently). It is also one of only a few doctor of pharmacy programs that allows students to complete all of their degree requirements in three years.
