'University in the Philippines, Visayas is found in the Island of Panay that's why it has the name "...of the Visayas".


The University has many locations in (1) Cebu College, (2) Tacloban and in (3) Iloilo which has two colleges there in Iloilo City and the Main University in Miag-ao. The UP Visayas has expertise in fisheries program and it is recognized in Asia.


Some courses offered are BA Literature, BS Management, BA Food Technology and many other.


In one of the island nearest to Iloilo like Cuyo Islands many students hurdles in the University of the Philippines College Admission Test (UPCAT). Many did pass it. It is held in Palawan College of Arts and Trades (PCAT) in Cuyo, Palawan. Five students passed the upcat from PCAT in the A.Y. 2007 and 4 from last year.Some schools also joins the UPCAT in Cuyo but only one or none of them passed from the other schools in Cuyo.
