Uppsala öd (Uppsala domains or wealth of Uppsala) referred to the network of royal estates that were the property of the Swedish crown.


Its origins are prehistoric and unknown. According to a tradition documented by Snorri Sturluson it was founded over 2 000 years ago by the god Frey when he settled at Uppsala (Gamla Uppsala) and founded the Temple at Uppsala. Snorri Sturlason (1178 – September 23, 1241) was an Icelandic historian, poet and politician. ... Freyr is a very important god in Old Norse religion. ... Whereas there exist several places in Sweden bearing the name Uppsala, the mythic place for the old swedish pagan culture of Asas is mostly believed to have been located in Gamla Uppsala (Old Uppsala), just outside the modern city of Uppsala.
