University Radio Falmer (URF) is the student radio station for the University of Sussex and Brighton. Broadcasting on 1431am it covers the Sussex campus and Brightons Falmer campus. URF began broadcasting back in 1976 on the frequency 999am. It eventually moved over to 1431am and also broadcasts on the internet. www.urfonline.com


The station enjoys links with community station Radio Reverb as well as many members past and present working for Juicefm.

Recent Achievements


URF celebrated 30 years of broadcasting in 2006. A week of events including a Birthday themed party at the Hot House saw the station further promoted to students across campus.


Mara Webster won the bronze award for Best Female at the Student Radio Association/Radio 1 Awards in 2005. The final judge was Radio 1 DJ Colin Murray.


Ex-member Andrea Fox now presents drivetime on Brightons local station Juicefm with Guy.


Ex-member Adam Lindsay is currently the producer of the breakfast show on Juice.


Ex-member Jonathan Pascoe works on the Heartfm breakfast show with Jamie Theakston.
