Videsh Sanchar Nigam Ltd (VSNL) is India's phone carrier for international calls. While domestic calls are carried by Mahanagar Telephone Nigam Limited (MTNL), Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL), and private companies, international calls are routed through VSNL. It also provides bandwidth for Internet service providers.


It was incorporated on April 1, 1986. It was the first company to introduce internet services in India in the year 1995. (first ISP in India)


It handles the allocation of bandwidth for the other ISP's in India. VSNL was till recently, a government of India company, but has recently been taken over by a corporate group, the Tata Group.
