The Volkswagen Touran is a compact minivan based on a vertically stretched 5th generation of the Volkswagen Golf and sold in Europe. It was launched in 2003 as a sort of announcement of the new Golf generation. It fills a perceived gap in Volkswagen's model lineup below their larger minivan Sharan.
