In his youth Repin studied with Zakhar Bron, but his professional career began early when, at the age of 17, he won the Queen Elisabeth competition, a major international violin competition in Brussels. Since then he has played with leading conductors including Pierre Boulez, Riccardo Chailly, Charles Dutoit, Valery Gergiev, James Levine, Kurt Masur, Simon Rattle, Esa Pekka Salonen, and Mstislav Rostropovich. He has recorded concertos by Mozart, Tchaikovsky, Prokofiev, Nikolai Myaskovsky, Shostakovich, and Sibelius, as well as two CDs of violin and piano music works with Boris Berezovsky.
