It was created as a refugee community for immigrants fleeing from the El Salvador Civil War. Each family was facilitated with a plot of land and are the predominant suppliers of vegetables to the Belmopan area. This community started with a total of seven families. (Fam. Alfaro, Umaña, Cruz, Echeverria, Barrera,Hernandez, and Zometa), one was Belizean Creole (Mr. Scott and his family) and a Mennonite family (Mr. Duek & Family). As it happens with growing communities Valley of peace was a great place to live. Due to the fast growth and social changes the village is undergoing, gangs and drugs are becoming more common. This has influenced some families to move out to other locations of the country in an effort to avoid getting caught in these problems. Valley of Peace was a great place to live, with its beautifull mountains and Belmopan river sorrounded the precious valley, many kinds of animals were easly apreciated, deep in the mountain one could hear "El Saraguate" (small noisy monkey) villagers knew that rain was near by. Houses were called "Ranchos" Los Ranchos were made of Guano and wood.
