Vector Aeromotive was an American automobile company started in the 1976 by Jerry Weigart. Their goal was to make cars that would challenge Ferrari, Lamborghini, and McLaren in terms of performance. In 1993, Indonesian group V'Power bought Vector from Weigert so the company could continue because of money problems. V'Power had previously owned Lamborghini before Audi purchased them. With the infusion of money, and V'Power's connections to Lamborghini, Vector was able to purchase their powerful V-12 engines, which greatly increased the power of their vehicles. Vector was able to unveil a few supercars before they closed shop in 1999. These included the Vector M12 introduced in 1997 and the Vector W8 unveiled in 1990. While their cars were undoubtedly fast and aerodynamic, they were never able to sell enough to stay afloat, even with prices approaching $200,000. Only 22 W8's and 15 M12's were ever produced and sold.
