"Move 2000" – counties can influence the environmental impact of traffic (2206 words)
Counties have limited possibilities when it comes to initiating a technical development of transport technology, but, even so, there are ample opportunities to influence behaviour and find organisational solutions that offer the same degree of mobility, but cause less environmental damage.
Counties are also responsible for the preparation of public transport plans, and they often have an interest in the regional transport company that provides the bus services in the county.
As a partner, Vejle County is, for example, an active partner in the Green Network, a network of private and public companies and authorities aiming to promote cleaner technologies and environmental management in the region.
Vejle, Denmark (762 words)
Vejle is a picturesque town located at the head of Vejle Fjord, and for a country where the highest natural elevation is only about 170 m above sea level, Vejle is well known for the forested hills that rise up to the north and south of the town and fjord.
Vejle was first established on an islet where the small Vejle and Grejs Rivers converged before emptying into Vejle Fjord.
Vejle has fostered many great football players among them one of the few worldwide stars of Danish soccer history: Allan Simonsen, who was named Europe's best soccer player in 1977.
