A vendor is one who sells something. In this sense, they can thought of being identical to a merchant.


A vendor can also be an industry segment's commodity or service seller, specially in computers market.

 Vendor is synonimous with supplier. but there is a subtle difference. Normally Vendor is understood in the context of selling petty goods viz. Stamp Vendor or Fruit Vendor. while Supplier is used to describe selling transactions involving industrial products as well as Services.
