Capital District (spanish Distrito Capital) is the capital area of Venezuela which is placed on the same rank of states. It helds only one minicipality: Libertador. There is no politial unit for governing the Capital District. Once the Federal District had had the government with its governor but the reform in 2000 founded the Metropolitan District of Caracas and gave it the jurisdiction over one municipality of the Capital District and four municipalities of the Miranda State. From this on the renamed Capital District have been no entity of itself.
