A Vice-Chancellor (commonly called the VC) of a university in the United Kingdom, other Commonwealth countries, and some universities in Hong Kong, is the de facto head of the university. Strictly speaking, he is only the deputy of the Chancellor of the university, but the Chancellor is usually a famous person who acts as a ceremonial figurehead, e.g. the Chancellor of Cambridge University is HRH The Duke of Edinburgh, while the Vice-Chancellor acts as the day-to-day chief executive. In the United States, the role of the Vice-Chancellor is fulfilled by the University President.

Upon receipt of the written allegation, the ViceChancellor for Academic Affairs shall immediately and confidentially inform the supervisor of the accused party and the accused party of the allegation.
Should the ViceChancellor for Academic Affairs determine that neither misconduct nor unethical behavior has occurred, then all references to the allegation shall be removed from all personnel files at every level and all materials relating to the allegation shall be forwarded to the Chancellor who shall be responsible for their security.
Further, the university shall vigorously implement Section 5.F. Should the ViceChancellor for Academic Affairs determine that the allegation was maliciously motivated, he or she shall refer the concerned party to the appropriate body for action in accordance with established University policies.
