The Viceroy of Norway (Visekonge in Norwegian) was the appointed head of the Norwegian Government in the absence of the King. His role was largely similar to that of the Governor, which has led to confusion as to who filled which office. Important to remember, however, is that the office of Viceroy only was held by crown princes.
