Encyclopedia > Victoria Memorial

The Victoria Memorial is a memorial of Queen Victoria of the United Kingdom, who also carried the title of Empress of India. A white marble building at the southern end of Maidan, in Calcutta, India.


It was designed by Sir William Emerson and was completed in 1921. Still today it is very well kept, unlike other heritages of the British Imperialism in India.
