Vimmerby is a Municipality in Kalmar County, in south-eastern Sweden. The municipality covers an area of 1139.2 km². Of the total population of 15776, 7889 are male, and 7887 are female. The population density of the community is 14 inhabitants per km².


Vimmerby is currently a tourist attraction due to historical links with Swedish author Astrid Lindgren. Astrid Lindgren's World, an amusement park for children with themes from her books is one of the most reputed sites in the city.
