The building of Vindicat at the 'Grote Markt' in Groningen
The Groninger Studenten Corps Vindicat atque Polit (Latin for maintain and refine) is the oldest Dutchstudent association and was founded on Feburary the 4th 1815 as a reaction on attacks from local citizens on students. Nowadays Vindicat is the largest student organization in Groningen with nearly 2500 members. Vindicat's union building is located in the heart of Groningen and is called Mutua Fides (Mutual Loyalty) and plays a large role in the social-life of it's members. Vindicat is also home to numerous cultural and sport sub-organizations. In 2005 Vindicat celebrated it's 190th birthday with it's 38th anniversary festival.
