Viroinval is a municipality located in the Belgian province of Namur. On January 1st, 2004 Viroinval had a total population of 5,639 (2,695 males and 2,944 females). The total area is 120.90 km² which gives a population density of 46.64 inhabitants per km².
Viroinval (5,600 inhabitants) is located in the arrondissement of Philippeville.
The name Viroinval (the valley of the Viroin) was chosen when 8 municipalities (Nismes - Dourbes - Olloy-sur-Viroin - Mazée - Vierves-sur-Viroin - Treignes - Oignies-en-Thiérache - Le Mesnil) merged in 1977.
It is based on the municipal coat of arms, which was based on the coat ot arms of Vierves (the diamonds) and the Nismes (the patron saint Lambert and the water-course).
