VirtualRoomvideoconferencing is now regularly employed as part of ATLAS and CMS, and increasingly for other DOE-supported programs.
The system is managed by the Caltech L3/CMS group working in collaboration with the CERN IT Division, under a joint project approved by the LHC Computing Board (LCB) in July 1997.
Development and use of the VRVS system for international meetings has relied on the use of a minor part of the bandwidth on the Trans-Atlantic link, which is managed by the CERN group.
