The Virunga National Park lies in the Virunga Mountains of the eastern Democratic Republic of Congo, bordering Volcans National Park in Rwanda and Rwenzori National Park in Uganda. Although mountain gorillas are now extremely rare, successful conservation work has secured the remaining populations.
