A Visitor attraction is a place that primarily, or as a side-effect of its main purpose, caters for visitors, be they tourists, day-trippers or those on an educational mission.
The term is now the preferred term in the UK for what was formerly called a Tourist attraction as this phrase became synonymous with "Tourist trap" indicating a certain tackiness of presentation and sometimes outrageous over-pricing.
A popular touristattraction, the pier has been fully restored and is a historic landmark within the resort.
Visitors are welcome to walk or ride the tram to the seaward end of the Pier where the Pier Pavilion has a refreshment facility, toilets, a display illustrating the history of the Pier and also the local natural environment.
At the seaward end of the pier is a visitor centre and observation platform.
