Vladimir Ovchinnikov (born January 2, 1958) is a Russian pianist. A graduate of the Moscow Conservatory, where he's currently professor of piano, he was awarded second place in the Montreal International Music Competition in 1980. In 1982, he shared the Silver Model with Peter Donohoe in the International Tchaikovsky Competition. In 1987, he took First Prize at the Leeds International Pianoforte Competition. Vladimir Ovchinnikov studied with Alexey Nasedkin at the Moscow Conservatoire where he is now a Professor of Piano.
Vladimir Ovchinnikov appears regularly with such leading Russian orchestras as the Moscow Philharmonic; Moscow Radio Symphony and the St Petersburg Philharmonic; he also has a long standing relationship with the Russian State Symphony Orchestra and Yvegny Svetlanov with whom he has toured France; the Netherlands; North and South America.
