The West of the county consists of the Southern end of the Eastern Carpathians, the curved region (Carpatii de Curbură in Romanian) with heights over 1400 m . The area is a seismical active area, with a lot of earthquakes happening every year at depths between 80 and 160 km. The heights decrease to the East, passing through the hills to the lower Siret River valley. The main affluent of the SIret River which crosses the county is the Putna River Global earthquake epicenters, 1963–1998. ...
