The WCWA Tag Team Championship was the major tag team title in World Class Championship Wrestling. It started out as the NWA American Tag Team Championship and was also referred to as the WCCW American Tag Team Championship. In 1986, WCCW split from the National Wrestling Alliance and the titles were changed to the WCWA Tag Team Championship. In late 1989, the titles were renamed the USWA Tag Team Titles and WCWA folded shortly after. World Class Championship Wrestling was a popular regional professional wrestling federation run out of Dallas and Fort Worth, Texas. ... In Mexico, the basic tag team match is referred to as Lucha de Parejas (Doubles Tag), a six-man match as a Lucha de Trios, and an eight-man match as a Lucha AtГіmica (Atomic Tag).
One further variation is where teams of 4 or more are comprised of tag teams, and once a member of a team is eliminated their partner is also eliminated.
Primarily associated with Ring of Honor,a Scramble tag team match has one difference from the normal rules: when a wrestler goes out of the ring either of their own volition or by being forced out, a partner can come in as a replacement without being tagged in.
